To accurately quote you the right solution we need the following information:
- The width between each support beam under the pews you are looking to heat
- Whether the pews have back boards or not

How do I mount a PH pew heater?
-
If you church pews have back boards, you can simply install the heaters directly to them. If there are no back boards, you have the choice of using suspension brackets (PHB) and floor brackets (PHF). Suspension brackets secure the heater to the underside of the pew.
-
Are pew heaters expensive to run?
-
Versus a traditional space heating system (boiler/radiators) they are very economic to run. Here’s an example of running costs based on a rural church with 30 pews that holds a monthly service for an hour. Lets pretend this church has a 30p/kWh tariff.
30 pews with 2 x PH45 heaters installed on each. (our middle-sized unit)
Total load: 27kW
Cost to run per hour service: £8.10
This is based on every pew being occupied. If the congregation occupies pew in the first half of the nave, that service would only cost £4.05. -
Do they heat a church like our old gas system?
-
Pew heaters are designed to heat people directly not warm all the air within a church like a gas system. We have found that traditional space heating systems require a huge amount of pre warming to potentially get a church to a designed temperature.
-
Do they have an internal cut out?
-
Yes they do. If an object accidently blocks the front of a heater and it begins to overheat, the cut out will kick in and turn the heater off.
-
Can these heaters help us reach net zero?
-
When partnered with a green energy supplier, pew heaters absolutely get you on your path to a new zero carbon church.

How do I keep running costs and energy consumption to a minimum?
-
Installing a switch on each pew is the best way to keep running costs and energy consumption to a minimum as it allows you to heat specific pews when they are occupied. So for example, even if every pew in the church has a pew heater under it, if the first 5 rows of pews are occupied you can simply heat those.
By installing switches on each pew, it means your systems isn’t ‘all on or all off’ and you will not waste energy on heating unoccupied pews.
There are also other control options that offer similar energy saving benefits including the use of timers and zoning multiple pews. For any questions regarding control and how to save energy please do not hesitate to contact us on 01293 547 361.
